The Heart of the Great Barrier Reef

ABOUT

Inside the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, the Whitsunday Islands are an archipelago of 74 tropical islands. This string of continental islands are the peaks of drowned hills jutting above the turquoise Coral Sea located just 55 kilometres off of the Queensland Coast. The clear waters that surround the islands boast six national parks that protect their fragile ecosystems and were formed more than 100 million years ago after volcanic activity formed mountainous terrain that remained connected to the mainland coast. After the last ice age the mountains were partially covered by the rising sea creating the network of islands we see today.

A tropical oasis of white sandy beaches, lush palm trees and sparkling waters awaits you at InterContinental Hotel - Hayman Island Resort. This private island is located in the Whitsundays, in the heart of the pristine Great Barrier Reef.

Nestled at the northernmost point of Australia’s Whitsunday archipelago, Hayman Island unlocks the heart of the Great Barrier Reef by placing you moments away from Langford Island, Bali Hai, Blue Pearl Bay and Hook Island.
